Review: Kellogg’s NutriGrain Bakery Delights Cinnamon Crumb Cake & Mario Returns On The Nintendo Switch!
JFG Nation, when I was a little kid, I did not own a Nintendo Entertainment System. Instead, I went over to my friend Mike’s place often to play many video games on a variety of systems. Among Mario games, Super Mario Brothers 3 was my favorite:
The music, the gameplay, the Tanooki suit! IT WAS A CLASSIC! NOTHING could beat this game.
But then, in the mid-to-late 90’s, I borrowed my friend Dan’s N64, and played Super Mario 64:
HOOOOOMY GOD. Dude, that game KICKED. ASS. 3-D Mario?? AND you get to whirl around and toss Bowser onto spiked bombs????? My nerd senses were TINGLING!!
After that, I didn’t own any game systems in college, and to this day have only played a Nintendo Wii a couple of times, at best. The new Nintendo Switch looks pretty awesome; after this trailer came out, I was already pretty stoked. But then, THEN…I saw this:
GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY.
I feel like I’m having a slight panic attack. I need to play this game. I need to buy this game. I’m not even a gamer, but this game looks like my childhood all over again. How do I get this game into my life NOW NOW NOW???
Sorry about that. But yeah, Super Mario Odyssey: you look like a BOMB ASS GAME. Wait, and one more thing: you get to throw your hat and then jump on it???? WHAT.
Today’s review: Kellogg’s NutriGrain Bakery Delights Cinnamon Crumb Cake!
Kellogg’s NutriGrain Bakery Delights Cinnamon Crumb Cake were purchased the same time I got the Lemon Crumb Cake. I do love crumb cakes, with Drake’s Cakes being one of my favorite. Would a “healthy” crumb cake live up to its peers?
When I opened this Kellogg’s NutriGrain Bakery Delights Cinnamon Crumb Cake, it definitely SMELLED cinnamon-y, almost like an apple crumb cake smells.
The top of the Kellogg’s NutriGrain Bakery Delights Cinnamon Crumb Cake had a bit of streusel, but not a lot. Like my description of the Lemon Crumb Cake, the “crumb” was more of a hardened streusel-like crust on the top side of the cake square.
I bit into this Kellogg’s NutriGrain Bakery Delights Cinnamon Crumb Cake, and….I didn’t hate it. I didn’t find it as appealing as the Lemon Crumb Cake, which is sort of saying something. These weren’t bad – like the Lemon Crumb Cake, I was actually sort of surprised at how NOT-processed this tasted. That said, the flavor was just ok – good sponginess to the cake. Good cinnamon flavor, but nothing too bold. A sweet flavor overall in the cake and the crust. Hearty familiar cinnamon cake flavor. This bar was about as good as other cinnamon crumb cakes I’d ever had – nothing more, nothing less. There was no inspired butteriness to the cake, or anything bold in the flavor. Just a solid cake square.
I probably won’t buy these again, but if you do you won’t be disappointed – you just won’t be surprised. Unlike the lemon variety, I didn’t want to rush to put another square into my mouth after I finished this one. Hm.
