Review: Limited Edition Dark Chocolate Covered Wavy Lays & What I Kind Of Wanted For My Birthday…WEARABLE SPIDERMAN SLEEPING BAG
Junk Food Nation, it’s my birthday on Saturday, and I am extremely blessed. Wonderful family, the Junk Food Gal, and all the snacks I can eat. Plus, a fantasy football team that is FINALLY starting to turn it around NO THANKS TO YOU VINCENT JACKSON. CATCH A TOUCHDOWN ONCE IN A WHILE, YOU HACK.
Anyways, I’m really bad at asking for things for my birthday – I am, after all, an adult male with a job and the means to buy myself whatever I want whenever I want – but I saw something the other day that I NERDED OUT OVER: WEARABLE. SUPERHERO. SLEEPING BAGS.
I KNOW, RIGHT???? I love it too. Basically, it’s a sleeping bag onesie, that comes with coverings for your hands, feet, and a hood for your domepiece. AND IT MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE A SUPERHERO. Not only Spiderman, but also Captain America, the Hulk, and Iron Man! Say WHAAAAAA.
I showed the Junk Food Gal excitedly, and she immediately responded: “How is this not just a one piece snow suit?” To which I roared WHY MUST YOU QUESTION ME, WOMAN? Well, that’s what I WANTED to say. Instead I whimpered, “But…but…Spiderman…..” Heh heh.
Anyways, probably no one will buy me this amazing wearable sleeping bag, but still, I felt like it deserved a starw poll to the Junk Food Nation. In the comment below, tell me: is this product AMAZING or STUPID?
Today’s junk food: Limited Edition Dark Chocolate Covered Wavy Lays!
Finally got my hands on one of these bags of Limited Edition Dark Chocolate Covered Wavy Lays! As I mentioned a few days ago, this blog previously featured a review of the Milk Chocolate version of these chips. Well, now the Milk Chocolate version is back, with new packaging, and it has a dark chocolate sibling!! WOOT.
I really liked the Milk chocolate ones, so I have high hopes for these Limited Edition Dark Chocolate Covered Wavy Lays. I mean, potato chips dipped in chocolate? Welcome to Gluttonsville, population YES.
Plus, the biggest difference with these Limited Edition Dark Chocolate Covered Wavy Lays – the appearance of large coarse salt crystals on the surface. OOO LA LA.
Each bag contains about 15 chips for a whopping 800 CALORIES A BAG. Damn. PS: This is a 5 oz bag.
Please note: the first ingredient of these Limited Edition Dark Chocolate Covered Wavy Lays is CHOCOLATE, not chips. I prefer that ratio – I want as much chocolate as possible with only the crunch of a potato chip.
I opened this bag of Limited Edition Dark Chocolate Covered Wavy Lays up and immediately smelled dark chocolate – a distinct smell over milk chocolate. The aroma was deep and cocoa-y. They. Smelled. Awesome.
Most of these Limited Edition Dark Chocolate Covered Wavy Lays chips were fully covered on one side…
…with some chip exposed on the other side. The partial coating, I thought, was a good thing – despite my happiness that there was more chocolate than potato in this combo, I still WANTED to taste the chip. If I had just wanted a crunchy chocolate bar, I’d eat several other chocolate bars. I wanted something different with these.
Needless to say, these Limited Edition Dark Chocolate Covered Wavy Lays were friggin’ good. The Dark Chocolate coating the chip seemed to be of semi-decent quality; it didn’t melt all over my fingers reflecting a ton of oil. No, the dark chocolate was solid, with deep cocoa notes.
The chip provided very nice crunchy, and I didn’t feel like they were oily at all. I loved the contrast of the thick coating of chocolate and the nice crispiness of the chip. The balance, in my eyes, was perfect.
The salt crystals? While not entirely visible, I definitely tasted them – there were a few chews here and there where the salt exploded in tiny bursts in my mouth, making the dark chocolate even sweeter. I really enjoyed that part.
All in all, these were great. I liked the pairing of the dark chocolate better than the milk chocolate mainly because I think the saltiness of the chip worked a lot better with the deeper chocolate flavor. Kinda pricey, but the product definitely delivered.
