Review: Starburst Fruit Flavored Candy Corn (A So Good Exclusive) & Other Media Tidbits Incl. JunkFoodGuy.com On Time Newsfeed

Junk Food Nation, I’m still reeling from what I saw in last night’s MNF game – Chip Kelly’s “blur” offense.  The Redskins secondary getting exposed. Michael Vick getting hit ALL THE TIME.  RGIII Looking tentative. And the Philly D wearing down and the Redskins near (sort of) comeback.  I’m exhausted…and getting a little sick.  Ugh.  Some notes from the news:

1) It’s new Apple Product Day! Today’s Apple announcement event promises newer iPhones, cheaper iPhones, a new OS, and maybe a deeper look into Apple TV?  For tech geeks like me, REJOICE!  For people who aren’t tech geeks …well, you’ll be buying this stuff too.

2) For non-legal peeps, a look into an important case from yesterday: judges heard oral argument over whether the internet should remain free and open.  On one side was the FCC, arguing that “creators of legal content should have equal access to Internet users, lest big players gain an unfair advantage.”  On the other side was Verizon, arguing that internet providers can charge whatever they like to whoever they like.  Politically, it’s interesting – for those who don’t like government intervention, this case is strange because the government is here arguably trying to stop big business from hurting small business.  Interesting legal stuff here, people.

3) JunkFoodGuy.com in the news!  My Pumpkin Spice M&M’s review was quoted on TIME’s newsfeed yesterday, along with my buddy over at TheImpulsiveBuy.com. WOOT WOOT!  Read the article here, and check out another article here.

Ok, that’s it. I need to go rest.  Wait, I mean work.  Grrrrr.

Today’s junk food is a review I did over on So Good: Starburst Fruit Flavored Candy Corn! Here’s a preview…

So Good Readers, it’s Monday!  I am, as always, your friendly neighborhood Junk Food Guy, and I have been binging on football, not junk food, for the past 48 hours.  Still, it is the beginning of September, so OF COURSE Halloween candy is one everyone’s mind, isn’t it?  Some stores had this drivel already displayed mid-August.  Wow.

Now, there’s a lot of the same old stuff in stores now for those looking to purchase Halloween candy for giving away, or even Fall-flavored candies and foods generally. Recently, I reviewed the buzztastic Pumpkin Spice M&Ms over on my personal blog.  Equally buzzworthy, however, are the brand new Starburst Fruit Flavored Candy Corn!  As soon as I saw these, I knew that So Good had to try them.

Starburst Fruit Flavored Candy Corn: The Money Shot

Starburst Fruit Flavored Candy Corn: The Money Shot

I mean, let’s really look at these for a second.  Starburst Fruit Flavored Candy Corn.  STARBURST CANDY CORN.  This feels either like the greatest invention ever, or an abomination of the greatest degree.  I’m hoping it’s not the latter since *newsflash* I HATE CANDY CORN.  I don’t know.  I just don’t love the flavor – essentially, candy corn tastes like really over the top vanilla.  Additionally, it tastes waxy, I get WAY too into the sugar high and before I know it, all of my teeth have cavities.  Gross.

Happy Tuesday – So Good has the rest of the review.  Go read it!

Wow! Ugh. No! I actually remember liking the taste of candy corn as a kid. I also remember that stopping not long after. Candy corn was the scourge of 1980’s Halloween bags and baskets all over.
